HS SOFTBALL/BASEBALL: Results from Monday 7-20

One coverage area team survived last night and it was the top squad in Class 2A North Linn. The defending champion Lynx have won 28 games in a row and improved their mark to 23-0 with a Regional Final W over Waterloo Columbus at home 6-0. North Linn the one seed in the 2A bracket will face the 8th-seed Ridge View of Holstein at 11:00 Tuesday morning.

Anamosa fell in a 3A Regional Final 12-3 to Mount Vernon. It denied the Lady Blue Raiders  for the second straight season of advancing to the state tournament for the first time since 1996. The Mustangs move to the tourney for the 2nd season in a row, 3rd time in four seasons and 7th time overall.

In the listening area- Lisbon beat Central City 4-1.

Tonight, Class 4A and 5A Regional finals take the stage:

The West Delaware Hawks ranked N0. 2 with a 20-4 mark have won 14 games in a row. They will play in their seventh Regional Final since 2011 looking for their 5th trip to state in that time span and 15th in program history. The Hawks will welcome in 10-17 Washington to Sill Field. Bill Logan and Roger Reed will have the coverage starting around 7pm live on MIX 94.7 and KMCH.com.


In Class 4A, Western Dubuque had their season ended by Cedar Falls in Farley. The Bobcats were clipped 4-3 as they left the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th to close the contest.

Our featured game on our KMCH Sports 2 stream on KMCH.com will be the 6-7 Monticello Panthers in their first substate since 1992 and third in program history looking for their first state berth taking on 11-4 Durant in Maquoketa. Sports Director Jon Swisher and Todd Lambert will have the call around 7pm.

Also in Class 2A 2nd-ranked North Linn is back in their 6th substate in a row facing New Hampton in Waverly.
