The Iowa DNR will be completing a road improvement project at Indian Bluffs Wildlife Area beginning in the last week in July that will impact Butterfield Road – from the point at which it enters the wildlife area on the north end on south to where the road ends at the Maquoketa River.
The road closure is expected to last for two to three weeks, weather permitting.
The project will improve road drainage and the road surface, making it much more accessible during all seasons. Butterfield Road serves as the main public access to Indian Bluffs, and is often used during the summer for access to the Maquoketa River.
Visitors will need to make alternate plans to access the area during the construction.
