The “Delaware County Pay It Forward” volunteers were busy helping out our Linn County neighbors over the weekend.
The group was collecting monetary donations and supplies for the storm victims. A trailer was set up at the Delaware County Fairgrounds’ east gate both Saturday and Sunday. And organizer Mindi Jackson of Manchester says they were getting a good response.
The group collected half a trailer full of supplies on Saturday and were hoping to get two trailers full by Sunday. They ended up filling a 26-foot trailer and a SUV with supplies and collecting $4,600 in gift cards, coins and monetary donations. The donations will go to different locations in Linn County.
And kids were helping with the effort too. Gavin McIntyre and Owen Jackson, both eleven years old, told KMCH it was important to help Linn County residents who were affected by last week’s storm.
“Delaware County Pay It Forward” was created this spring to help meet the needs of Delaware County residents during COVID-19. But Jackson says the group felt it was necessary to reach beyond the county’s border to help our neighbors to the south.
