Volunteers and Donations Still Needed for Storm Clean Up

Help for victims of last week’s storm continues to pour in from all over. Three airplanes from Kansas full of supplies are expected to arrive in Cedar Rapids today from Kansas.

The “Iowa Derecho Storm Resource Page” on Facebook that we told you about last week has grown to over 53,000 members, and has brought in over $76,000 in monetary donations. The group served over 4,000 hot meals on Monday.

There is still an urgent need for ice, tarps, flashlights, gas cans, coolers, charcoal, and non-perishable food.  Extension cords, batteries, candles, fuel are also needed.

Volunteers are also needed to help operate the donation and operations site from 8:00AM to 7:00PM and to help with debris clean up.

Monetary donations are being accepted via Venmo @iowaderecho; the PayPal account is info@derecho2020.com and cash is also being accepted at their Donation Drop-off/Pickup  at 5001 1st Ave SE in Cedar Rapids.
