Bars will be allowed to re-open in Linn County at 5 pm today.
Governor Kim Reynolds has lifted part of her public health proclamation – it allows the re-opening of bars, wineries and breweries in four counties that have been closed for the past 19 days.
Polk, Dallas and Black Hawk counties are among the other three counties where bars can re-open.
It also removes the restrictions on hours that alcohol may be sold in restaurants in those counties.
On August 27th, the governor ordered bars in those counties, along with drinking establishments in Johnson and Story counties, to close after COVID-19 cases were spiking among young adults in those counties. The governor’s latest order maintains the bar closures in Story and Johnson counties, where the Iowa and Iowa State campuses are located.
