Delaware County’s COVID-19 positivity rate and number of active cases are up for the second week in a row – and hospitalizations have taken a jump over the weekend.
There are currently nine Delaware County residents hospitalized with COVID-19. There was one hospitalization last week.
On Monday, Delaware County’s positivity rate was at 17.2%. That’s the 8th highest positivity rate in Iowa and up from 12% a week ago. The positivity rate reflects the past 14-day average of positive COVID-19 cases, based upon the total number of people tested in the county.
Delaware County Public Health reported the county had 78 active positive cases on Monday. That’s up from the 58 active cases the county had last week Monday.
The number of Delaware County COVID-19 deaths still stands at three.
Delaware County gained 78 new cases this past week compared to 54 new cases the week before. The Iowa Department of Public Health says as of Monday, around 3,900 Delaware County residents have been tested, with 417 testing positive since April – that’s two and a half percent of the county’s population.
