Two Fallen Classmates Honored as MV Homecoming King & Queen

Maquoketa Valley held a special crowning for their Homecoming King and Queen on Friday night.

The eight seniors named to this year’s Homecoming Court included Payton Beaman, Ella Imler, Claire Krapfl, Emerson Whittenbaugh, Miguel Bojorquez, Andrew Holtz, Owen Mensen and Parker Sternhagen.

The court decided they wanted the titles of Homecoming King and Queen to go to two of their fellow classmates who had passed away before their senior year. Anna Nefzger died in an ATV accident near Delaware in 2016. Tiege Hunt died in a drowning incident on Lake Delhi this past July. Both would have been part of this year’s senior class at MV, graduating with the Class of 2021.

Maquoketa Valley announced Anna Nefzger as their Homecoming Queen and Tiege Hunt as their Homecoming King during an emotional ceremony at the Homecoming football game in Delhi, with both of their families on hand to accept their crowns on their behalf.
