Delaware County has the highest COVID-19 positivity rate in eastern Iowa right now.
On Monday, the Iowa Department of Public Health reported the county’s positivity rate at 19.3% – up from 17.1% a week ago. It is tied for the fourth highest positivity rate in Iowa.
The number of active cases in Delaware County has jumped again this week. Delaware County Public Health reported 167 active cases on Monday – that’s higher than the 118 active cases reported a week ago. Five of those residents are hospitalized, while the others are recovering at home.
Delaware County reported two additional deaths this past week, bringing the total number of deaths in the county due to COVID to eight.
Delaware County gained 101 new cases this past week compared to 71 new cases the week before. The Iowa Department of Public Health says as of Monday, over 4,500 Delaware County residents have been tested, with 677 testing positive since April – that’s now about four percent of the county’s population.
