The former CEO of Regional Medical Center in Manchester will wait until March for his restitution hearing.
Lon Butikofer was scheduled to appear in court Friday morning, but his hearing has been delayed until next year.
Butikofer was given a suspended prison sentence last December after pleading guilty to First Degree Theft. He and the hospital’s former System Fund Development Director, Mike Briggs, were arrested in June. The State Auditor’s Office discovered they had accumulated over $256,000 in expenses for personal trips they claimed were for hospital business. The investigation spanned eight years from 2009 to 2017.
Delaware County Attorney John Bernau tells KMCH the hearing was re-set for three reasons. Those reasons include COVID, the ongoing discussions to possibly resolve short of a hearing and the fact that Briggs’ case (which was set to begin this week) is still pending, so a joint restitution hearing may be more efficient.
Butikofer’s restitution hearing is now set for March 4th in Delaware County District Court.
