The City of Dyersville held a ribbon cutting on Friday, honoring a fellow city employee they lost to cancer.
The ribbon cutting was held at the new pedestrian bridge which connects Candy Cane Park and West Side Park – which will now be known as the Dave Vorwald Memorial Bridge.
Vorwald gave thirty years of public service to the city, serving most of those years as the Public Works Director for the City of Dyersville, overseeing streets, parks, water and wastewater operations and public works enhancement projects. His health led him to reluctantly resign in 2018. He passed away last year after a courageous battle with cancer.
The new bridge has been open since this summer, but the opening was made official on Friday as Dave’s family was on hand to cut the ribbon.
