Jones County Seeing Jump in COVID-19 Cases, 400+ Inmates Test Positive

Jones County is seeing a significant increase in COVID-19 cases.

As of Friday afternoon, Jones County had the highest positivity rate in Iowa at 40.3%. The county has seen over 1,200 positive cases since the pandemic began, with seven people currently hospitalized.

And Jones County Public Health was notified by the Anamosa State Penitentiary on Thursday that over 400 inmates have tested positive for COVID, with those numbers included in the county’s case count.

Jones County Public Health says the rate of community spread of COVID within Jones County continues to surpass all previous levels. They recommend residents wash hands frequently, stay home when not feeling well, social distance and wear face coverings in public.
