The Manchester City Council met Monday night, holding three public hearings.
The first hearing was on the proposed development agreement with BR Development LLC. Brian Ridge is developing a 27,000 square foot commercial retail building on the lot just south of Pizza Ranch. Ridge says he cannot yet say what the store will be, but says it will be a grocery retail operation that will open in late next summer. The new retail store will create around 50 full-time and part-time jobs with benefits. The agreement with the City, which was approved by the Council, will provide for a 12-year 80% tax rebate.
The City Council also held a public hearing on a proposed development agreement with Delaware County Economic Development as part of the City’s annual contribution to the organization. The agreement, also approved by the Council, means the City will continue to contribute $30,000 per year to DCED for the next three years.
And a public hearing was held on a proposed 30-year Airport Lease Agreement with Manchester residents Jim and Jean Fisher. The Fishers would like to construct a 40 by 40 foot hangar at the Manchester Municipal Airport, with a five foot buffer around the building for a total leased area of 50 by 50 feet. The Council gave their approval.
And the Manchester City Council set a public hearing for an Urban Renewal Plan Amendment, which will provide tax increment financing support to Bull Moose Heavy Haul, Inc. (doing business as XL Specialized Trailers) for a 55,000 square foot building expansion. XL plans to add to the north end of their facility, creating an additional 65 jobs. The proposed support from the City would come in the form of a 10-year 80% tax rebate. The public hearing has been set for December 14th.
