Ed-Co Students Thanking Veterans with Care Packages and Letters

Ed-Co students are reaching out to veterans in the Edgewood and Colesburg areas to say “thank you” on this Veteran’s Day.

Because of the risks involved with bringing veterans into the school for an in-person Veteran’s Day celebration, Ed-Co’s National Honor Society members came up with a different way to honor them this year.

NHS Advisor Aaron Hamann says the NHS students created care packages filled with donated items that they’re personally delivering to around 60 veterans in the Ed-Co school district today.

And at Ed-Co Elementary in Mrs. Schulte’s class, students have written hundreds of letters to veterans and active soldiers. Fifth grade student Alyssa Meyer says they wanted to thank them for protecting our country.

Fellow fifth grader Lane Gudenkauf says they’ve been busy.

He says it’s important to say thank you.

Ed-Co has also put together a video, with instructions for the veterans to find on YouTube, so they can watch it in their own homes or with their family. You can find the video posted here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkTtr2uvKBU&feature=youtu.be
