Independence Schools Transitioning to Emergency Closure Continuous Learning

The Independence Community School District will be transitioning to Emergency Closure Continuous Learning for a few days after Thanksgiving break.

Superintendent Russell Reiter addressed a letter to students, parents and the community on Friday, announcing the decision to move to remote learning. Emergency Closure Continuous Learning will go into effect Monday, November 30th and run through Thursday, December 3rd. Reiter says between the Buchanan County Public Health positivity rates, the increase in COVID cases across the region and the number of students quarantined within their district, they feel it’s in the best interest at this time.

All athletic and extracurricular activities in the Independence Community School District will also be canceled beginning Wednesday, November 25th and running through Sunday, December 6th.
