This past Saturday was the first weekend for high school wrestling tournaments around the state, and here is a look at how our area teams did in their respective tournaments.
In Manchester: West Delaware was the champions of their home Bob Murphy Invitational crowning nine champions and totaling 284 1/2 points, 96 1/2 points better than 2nd place Western Dubuque. The Hawks titles came from Brayden Maury, Blake Engel, Reily Dolan, Jadyn Peyton, Jared Voss, Cael Meyer, Wyatt Voelker, Christian Nunley, and Carson Petlon. Western Dubuque had five wrestlers in the finals, and the West Delaware JV team finished 5th with 120 points. For complete results click HERE.
In Fairbank: North Linn finished just 7 1/2 points behind Central Springs for the title at the Chris Davis Invite hosted by Wapsie Valley as they had four wrestlers wrestle in championship matches and crowned two champions in Cael Bridgewater and Jarin Peyton. Anamosa finished tied for 9th place with Waukon as Nathan Keating was the Blue Raiders lone champion. For complete results click HERE.
In Monticello: The Western Dubuque JV team crowned three champions and took home the title at the Monticello Guildord Invitational as they edged the host Panthers by just 4 1/2 points with Nevin Pins, Logan Massey, and Dakota Hoffman winning titles for the Bobcats. Monticello had three individual champions in Kale Hansen, Owen Ray, and Kain Luensman, while East Buchanan finished in 4th place with two titles from AJ Kremer and Luke Recker. In Cedar Falls: Mason Recker won the lone title for Beckman at the Keith Young Invitational at Cedar Falls High School as the Blazers finished in 5th place. Don Bosco won the team title with 234 points. For complete results click HERE.
In Cascade: Cascade hosted their annual dual tournament on Friday night as the Cougars went 4-1 to finish in 2nd place, with their only loss coming to the team champion MFL MarMac. Cascade’s four wins came against Starmont, Ed-Co, Wahlert, and Washington. Starmont went 3-2 to finish in 5th place as they defeated Ed-Co, Clayton Ridge, and Bellevue, and Ed-Co finished in 6th place going 2-3 as they beat Bellevue and Clayton Ridge.
