Congratulations to the Valued Volunteer for January, Chris Tegeler!
Chris was nominated by Leticia Timmerman for her volunteerism with the Meadows and the Good Neighbor Society:
Chris Tegeler has been an incredible and vital volunteer for The Meadows Assisted Living for over 3 years. Pre-pandemic, she volunteered for bus trips/outings, crafts, manicures, school visits, seasonal decorating, holiday parties. Chris is a crafty gal and has generated many ideas, which have enhanced our recreational programming! Also, Chris has been an instrumental committee member for the Good Neighbor Society Festival of Trees event and our Rehab to Home Capital Campaign.
When COVID-19 forced us to restrict our visitor and volunteer guidelines, Chris’s compassion, and care for our Community persevered. She discovered innovative ways to continue connecting with The Meadows Tenants and staff by handwriting nearly 40 personalized notes a month, dropping off goodies/care packages, and decorating our exterior courtyard and campus for Christmas. Following an improved positivity rate and our building overcoming a COVID-19 outbreak, Chris sought special consideration and was permitted to come in after-hours to decorate for Christmas. When the tenants were in for the night, she transformed The Meadows into a beautiful Christmas environment, while completely donned in PPE.
Not only does Chris devote countless hours and genuine benevolence to us here at The Meadows, but she also serves on Regional Medical Center’s Governing Board and volunteered regularly at St. Mary’s schools. She ultimately accepted a very part-time position at St. Mary’s, enabling her to continue seeing the children and staff during the pandemic.
Chris is a faithful and beautiful steward of her time and resources, enriching the lives and wellbeing of so many. For that we are incredibly grateful to have her as our “Valued Volunteer”!
Congratulations, Chris on this well deserved award!
