HS Wrestling: Saturday 1-9 Recap

It was another busy weekend of high school wrestling tournament around the area, and here is a look at how our area teams did.

In Van Horne:  West Delaware had to come from behind to win the Jerry Eckenrod Invitational at Benton Community high school. The Hawks had four individual champions on their way to the team title finishing with 245 1/2 points, edging Waukee who had 240 1/2. Jadyn Peyton, Jared Voss, Wyatt Voelker, and Carson Petlon all won titles for the Hawks. Independence had one indiviual champion as Brandon O’Brien led the Mustangs to a 4th place finish, while North Linn finished in 12th place. For complete results click HERE.

In Delhi: Beckman finished in 4th place at the Farr Jebens Invitational hosted by Maquoketa Valley as they were led by Owen Huehnergarth who won the 195 pound title for the Blazers. East Buchanan had one champ as with Luke Recker winning the 220 pound title to help the Buccaneers to a 6th place finish. Western Dubuque’s JV team finished in 8th place. Anamosa heavyweight Connor Andresen won a title to lead the Blue Raiders to a 9th place finish, and Starmont and Maquoketa Valley finished in 11th and 12th place respectfully. In Elkader: Ed-Co had three individual champions en route to a 6th place finish at the Central Invitational at Elkader Central High School. Peyton Gaul, Dawson Bergan, and Bo Struble were the Vikings three champions. Dalton Hoover won the 152 pound title as the Independence JV finished in 7th place. For complete results click HERE.

In Brooklyn: Monticello won the team title at the Corky Stuart Invitational held at BGM High School. The Panthers scored 200 points which was just seven points better than 2nd place West Marshall who finished with 193 points. Kale Hansen, Owen Ray, Ethan Tallman, and Kain Luensman all won individual titles for Monticello. For complete results click HERE.

In Riverside: Aidan Noonan won the 132 pound title at the Gary Curtis Invitational leading Cascade to an 8th place finish at Highland High School. For complete results click HERE.

In Marion: Western Dubuque went 3-0 at the Linn-Mar Duals as they defeated Xavier 36-31, Clinton 81- -1, and Clear Creek Amana 53-24. For complete results click HERE.
