In-person trials are set to resume next month.
Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Susan Christensen says the coronavirus pandemic forced the court system to enact two shutdowns of jury trials and institute remote hearings, but she is determined to resume in-person trials in February.
Giving the annual Condition of the Judiciary speech to the Iowa Legislature on Wednesday, Christensen said judiciary officials worked to balance the need to keep people safe with a commitment to conduct court business.
Delaware County trials already on the schedule this spring include the theft trial of former RMC System Fund Development Director Mike Briggs on March 3rd, as well as the trial of Kenneth Noble of Manchester, who is accused of shooting at a police officer and his landlord last February. Noble’s trial is set for March 31st.
