The Camp Courageous Manchester Garage Sale is open for the winter. Camp Director Charlie Becker says they’re trying something new this year.
Last season was a short one – opening in July and closing two months later in September due to COVID-19. But Becker says they’re feeling comfortable enough now to re-open.
Only ten shoppers are allowed in the building at a time and everyone must wear a mask.
Becker says they’re not sure how long this special winter portion of the garage sale will last. They’re hoping to be able to transition into their spring and summer season like they usually do in mid-April – but he says that will depend on their volunteer pool and how the vaccination process is going.
The garage sale is Camp Courageous’ largest fundraiser, with the money raised going back to the camp in Monticello that serves nearly ten thousand campers with special needs every year. And Becker says things have been going well at the camp, considering everything that happened this past year.
And there are some exciting things happening at the camp too.
You can support Camp Courageous by shopping at the Manchester Garage Sale – it’s open Monday through Friday from 9 to 4 at 1121 East Main Street in the former Norby’s building on the east end of town.
