Here is a look at results from the final weekend of tournaments of the regular season.
In Coralville: The Xstream Arena was the site for this year’s IWCOA Girls State Tournament on Friday and Saturday and 20 area girls competed in the tournament. Independence sophomore Rachel Eddy became the Mustang’s first ever girls state champion as she pinned Abby Boehm of North Fayette Valley in the finals to claim the 195 pound state title. Anamosa finished in 10th place with two state place winners as Ava Scranton finished 5th at 126 pounds, and Maggie Wagner finished 7th at 126. East Buchanan’s Keeley Kehrli had four falls on her way to the finals at 152 pounds before falling in the finals to Madison Diaz of Waverly-Shell Rock. For complete results click HERE.
In Center Point: West Delaware went 4-0 to win the Center Point-Urbana duals. In the Hawks second year in the tournament they picked wins over Decorah 47-24, Oelwein 74-6, Tipton 67-10, and CP-U 84-0. For complete results click HERE.
In Denver: North Linn went 3-2 at the Denver Duals as they had wins over North Fayette Valley 48-12, Waukon 40-39, and they defeated Beckman in a tie-breaker as the score ended 36-36. The Lynx two losses were to Denver and New Hampton/Turkey Valley. Beckman went 2-3 as their two wins came against North Fayette Valley 42-33 and Waukon 40-34. For complete results click HERE.
In Ankeny: Independence went 4-1 in the Dave Ewing Duals at Ankeny High School. The Mustang’s wins came over Bondurant Farrar 36-29, Spencer 54-21, Council Bluffs Abe Lincoln 65-5, and Sioux City North 62-15 before falling in their last dual to Ankeny 35-32. For complete results click HERE.
In Winthrop: East Buchanan finished 4-1 at their own Steinkamp Duals. The Buccaneers defeated New London 59-10, Ed-Co 65-11, Jesup 60-23, and Waterloo West 37-34, with their lone loss coming to Sumner Fredericksburg 42-39. Ed-Co went 0-5 on the day.
In Letts: Maquoketa Valley finished in 9th place at the Louisa-Muscatine Invitational. The Wildcats had three wrestlers reach the finals as Michael Schaul, Timmy Harmon, and Devin Smith all finished as runner-ups in the tournament. For complete results click HERE.
In Anamosa: Anamosa finished 3rd at their home Denny Christiansen Invitational. The Blue Raiders had two champs on the day as Alex Casey won the title at 152 and Nathan Keating won the gold medal at 195 pounds. Starmont finished in 4th place with three champions as Henry Hayes at 145, Bowen Munger at 170 pounds, and Louis Hamlett at 220 all won titles for the Stars. For complete results click HERE.
In Alburnett: Cascade finished in 6th place at the Alburnett Invite. The Cougars were led by two time state champ Aidan Noonan who won the 132 pound title. For complete results click HERE.
In Midland: Monticello finished 2nd at the John Byers Invitational held at Midland High School. The Panthers had eight wrestlers in the finals and were led by their two champions as Cael Sampson at 106 and Kale Hansen at 113 pounds won titles for the Panthers. For complete results click HERE.
In Williamsburg: Western Dubuque won the Williamsburg Raider Invitational Saturday as they were 23 1/2 points better than 2nd place Pella. The Bobcats had four champions as Greyson Gardner, Evan Surface, Sawyer Nauman, and Owen Hatcher all won individual titles. For complete results click HERE.
