Girl Scout cookie sales are underway!
And they’re getting creative this year with selling those cookies. Sara Breckenfelder, who serves as a local troop leader in Manchester, says this cookie season is looking a little different due to COVID, but the girls are still working hard to reach their goals.
Barb Smith, who serves as the Girl Scouts Community Engagement Manager for Delaware County, says the Cookie Program teaches girls some valuable skills – it’s the first time a girl can see herself as capable of running her own business.
And all of the proceeds from the cookie sales stay local. About one dollar from every box will go back to the baker for making the cookies and then the rest of the proceeds will go to the Girl Scout, her troop and the local council.
So, if you’re interested in buying a box or two of Girl Scout cookies, here’s a look at this year’s line-up.
Feel free to reach out to any Girl Scout to purchase cookies. If you don’t know a Girl Scout, you can find local troops online at girlscoutcookies.org or call their local offices at 800-798-0833. And mark your calendars for the Girl Scout Cookie booth that will be held Saturday, February 13th from 10 to 2 at Norby’s Farm Fleet in Manchester.
