100 Vaccines Given at Delaware County’s First COVID-19 Clinic

One hundred people were vaccinated at Delaware County’s first public COVID-19 vaccine clinic Wednesday.

The clinic, open to any resident 65 or older, was announced Tuesday morning – and within half an hour, all of the appointments for the four-hour clinic were filled.

And with a low amount of doses and high demand, Regional Medical Center and Delaware County Public Health have been getting a lot of calls wondering when the next vaccine clinic will be held. RMC Public Information Officer Valerie Lindsay says they don’t know that just yet.

Once more vaccine clinics are set up, Delaware County Public Health will release that information several ways – here on KMCH, on Regional Medical Center’s Facebook page, on RMC’s COVID-19 Vaccine Information Line at 927-7575, in our local newspapers and through their RMC email newsletter (you can find the link to get signed up for that email newsletter by going to RMC’s website and clicking on the banner in the bottom right corner).

You can also opt to receive an automated phone call and/or text message – sign up for this at regmedctr.org/covid-vaccine-notification. If you sign up for this communication, Regional Medical Center will call/text you with an automated message when there is an open clinic. When you get this message, YOU WILL NEED TO CALL to schedule an appointment.

There is no waiting list for the vaccine in Delaware County. Appointments will be taken on a first-come first-served basis for each clinic as they are announced.

And as we wait for more clinics to be announced, Lindsay says there are a few things to keep in mind so that you can be prepared for when it is your time to get vaccinated.

Lindsay is asking everyone to continue to be patient with your local public health officials and healthcare providers throughout this process. And don’t let your guard down just because some people are starting to get vaccinated.

In addition to the 100 people vaccinated Wednesday at Delaware County’s first public clinic, around 1,100 doses have been given to healthcare personnel and long-term care facility residents throughout the county.
