Check Your Home’s Gas Meters in Winter Weather

This winter weather can cause problems for your home.

Nicole Breitbach with Black Hills Energy says snow and ice build-up on your natural gas meter can create a safety hazard and even cut off the flow of natural gas to your heating equipment and other appliances.

And she says it’s not just gas meters that need to get checked.

Black Hills Energy also suggests having a carbon monoxide detector on every floor of your home and double-check your air filter to make sure it’s clean and running efficiently.
