HS Wrestling: Three Area Teams To Compete At Regional Duals

Three area wrestling teams will compete in regional duals for a chance to advance to the 2021 State Duals held next Wednesday at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

West Delaware will host 24th ranked South Tama and DeWitt Central at the Seedorff Gymnasium as the Hawks will face the winner in the regional dual final as they look to get back to the State Duals and capture their third straight 2A state title. The Hawks defeated South Tama on January 21st 59-15 at home in a WaMaC double dual. The last meeting between the Hawks and DeWitt Central came last season as they downed the Sabers 73-9 as part of a double dual in DeWitt’s last season in the conference.

West Delaware’s regional final dual will be on our KMCH Sports Live Video Stream around 7:00 with Jamie Vaske and Roger Reed.

Independence will also look to get back to the state duals as they will wrestle in their third straight regional duals. The Mustangs finished 4th in last year’s class 2A state duals and are looking to make their third straight appearance in the state duals. The Mustangs will take on the winner of the semifinal between #12 Williamsburg and #17 West Liberty.

In class 1A Beckman qualified for the regional duals by winning the sectional meet at Cascade as the 20th ranked Blazers will take on 32nd ranked Sigourney-Keota in the semifinals which will get underway at 6:00. The winner of the dual will move on to the final to take on top ranked Don Bosco.
