The West Delaware and Independence wrestling teams both qualified for next Wednesday’s State Duals at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, as both teams hosted regional duals last night and had byes to the regional dual final. At the Seedorff Gymnasium in Manchester South Tama advanced to the final to take on top ranked West Delaware with a 42-33 win over DeWitt Central, but in the final the Hawks shutout the Trojans 74-0 as 12 of the Hawks wins came by was of bonus points as they had nine falls, two technical falls, and one major decision.
In Independence it was Williamsburg winning their semifinal match-up over West Liberty 63-12 to advance to the dual final to take on the Mustangs. In the final it was all Independence as they won 10 matches and recorded five falls on their way to a 50-18 win. Both the Hawks and Mustangs will wrestle at 9:00 am in the first round of the State Duals as those brackets will be seeded by the coaches of the qualifying teams today.
The Beckman wrestling team advanced to their regional dual final in Gilbertville as the Blazers got past Sigourney-Keota 40-28 as they had five pins to move on to face top ranked Don Bosco. In the final the Dons won 12 of the matches as they ended the Blazers dual season with a 68-12 win.
