57 area wrestlers in class 1A and 2A who finished first or second in their sectional tournament last Saturday will be vying for a trip to the 2021 individual State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday as they compete in district tournaments. Wrestlers will once again need to finish in the top two of their weight classes in order to qualify for next week’s state meet which will get underway next Thursday at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
West Delaware, Monticello, and Anamosa will wrestle in the class 2A district hosted by Solon. The Hawks advanced 13 wrestlers to the district, and West Delaware head coach Jeff Voss says that as a coach this is his favorite time of year:
With the regional duals behind them, and the state duals coming up on Wednesday Voss wants his team to wrestle for themselves and give their best effort to qualify for state:
Monticello will have five wrestlers in the district at Solon, and Anamosa enter the day with two.
Coverage of the Solon district can be heard around noon on Mix 94.7 KMCH and can also be viewed exclusively on the KMCH Sports Video Stream at our website KMCH.com with Roger Reed and Jamie Vaske.
Also in class 2A Independence will take their 10 district qualifiers to the district in Williamsburg.
