Flags are being flown at half-staff today in honor of the two staff members who were killed in the line of duty last week at the Anamosa State Penitentiary.
Nurse Lorena Schulte and Correctional Officer Robert McFarland were brutally attacked by two inmates who were trying to escape the prison last Tuesday morning. They both will be laid to rest today.
Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff today from sunrise to sunset in honor and remembrance of the two victims.
Reynolds say they will exhaust every available resource to deliver justice to the two men who committed this act and bring a sense of closure and peace to the victims’ families.
