The first KMCH Sports coverage area Track and Field Meets took place yesterday. Monticello hosted a 13-team Co-Ed event.
On the Girls side, Marion won it with 145 points. Northeast was 2nd with 133, Monticello had 116 good for 3rd followed by Dubuque Hempstead, Cascade in 5th with 80, Bellevue 6th and Midland 7th.
The Boys division was also won by the Indians of Marion as they tallied 145.5. Bellevue was 2nd with 138.5, Xavier was 3rd, Monticello 4th with 114, Hempstead 5th and Northeast coming in 6th.
In Van Horne, North Linn participated in a 18-team Co-Ed hosted by Benton Community.
The Bobcats of Benton won the Boys side with 131 points, Grinnell 2nd, CP-U 3rd, 4th was Alburnett, South Tama 5th, the Lynx 6th with 46 points. Belle Plaine, Springville and Valley Lutheran finished seventh through ninth. Center Point-Urbana won the Girls competition with 113 points, Mount Vernon 2nd, Benton was tied for 3rd with Grinnell, South Tama and Springville were 5th and 6th. Alburnett was 7th, North Linn 8th with 42 points and 9th was Valley Lutheran.
Today, the West Delaware Boys Track and Field team is slated to open up their schedule with a home meet at the WD Track and Field complex by the Middle School in Manchester. Eight other schools will be on hand, including Central Elkader, Ed-Co, Independence, Maquoketa Valley, Oelwein, Waverly-Shell Rock, Hudson and Lisbon. Field events are expected to begin at 4:30.
