Body Found in Water at Bailey’s Ford Park

A body has been found in the water at Bailey’s Ford Park south of Manchester.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call of the discovery shortly before 1 pm Monday. When authorities arrived, they found a man face down in Spring Branch Creek at the north end of the park.

The 82-year old man had apparently been fishing at the park when he entered the water. His fishing pole and ballcap were on the edge of the bank upstream from where his body was found.

The Sheriff’s Office says the water was about one to two feet deep in that area, with many large rocks along the bank.

It’s not known at this time whether he fell into the water or suffered a medical emergency.

The man’s name is being withheld until family have been notified. His body has been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Several emergency personnel assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene, including Manchester Fire and Rescue, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DNR, RMC Ambulance and the Delaware County Medical Examiner.
