Edgewood Company Creates Yard Signs to Honor Chief Kuehl and Local Heroes

Yard signs are starting to pop up across the area honoring our local heroes – in particular, a local fire chief who lost his battle with the coronavirus last weekend.

Garber Fire Chief Chad Kuehl passed away from COVID-19 complications on Saturday. He was 45.

Shimlee, a division of the Kendricks company in Edgewood, has started creating yard signs honoring Chief Kuehl and all of those who serve.

That’s Morgan Adams, lead designer at Shimlee, who says there are two different designs you can choose from.

There are three ways you can order one of these yard signs – going online to shimlee.com, emailing custom@shimlee.com or calling their team at 928-6437. Three dollars from each $15 sign will go to Chief Kuehl’s family. And after just announcing the signs on Tuesday, they’ve already raised several hundred dollars.

Orders will be taken through April 30th. Shimlee also released a similar sign today honoring fallen Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Jim Smith.
