A write-in candidate has earned a seat on the Garnavillo City Council.
Luke Clefisch received 42 votes in Tuesday’s special election. The City of Garnavillo held an election to fill two vacant city council seats, with Shelley Dietrich and Robert Bodish filing to run. Dietrich won the other seat, with 67 votes. Bodish received 29.
And the City of Elkader also held a special election to fill one vacant city council seat. Anthony Hauber was elected with 148 votes, defeating Caleb Shea, who received 77 votes.
Voter turnout in Elkader was about 25%, with nearly 18% of Garnavillo voters turning out on Tuesday.
