Delaware County Conservation is offering four different Conservation Education Summer Day Camps for children ranging from ages 4-12 in June.
All camps will be held at Baileys Ford Park, Manchester. There will be limited space in each camp so get your registration in right away. Camps offered are:
- I Spy; Colors of Nature for ages 4-5; there must be an adult that accompanies the child. This is a 2-day camp held on June 7 & 8 from 8:30-12 am with a $15 registration fee. They will explore all the wonderful colors of plants and animals through nature walks, stories, activities and crafts.
- Creatures of our Natural Areas for ages 6-7. This is a 2-day camp held on June 14 & 15 from 8:30am-12pm with a $20 registration fee. We will discover what animals live in our surroundings and become animal detectives to learn how to identify common Iowa mammal tracks.
- Birds – Their Beaks & Feathers ages 8-9. This is a 2-day camp held on June 10 & 11 from 8:30am-12pm with a $20 registration fee. You will meet some live “Birds of Prey” along with using binoculars to discover birds in the woods and grassy areas and listen to bird calls to help identify them. We will discover what birds like to eat and build a bird feeder to take home.
- Our 1st Residents; Native Americans ages 9-12. This is a 2-day camp held on June 17 & 18 from 8:30am-12pm with a $20 registration fee. Did you know that Native Americans once lived in this area! We will get to know their culture and customs and see what it was like to live in a teepee. Plum Creek Archery will be here for an archery demonstration and you will get to try your hand at shooting a bow.
Some camps will be held around water and hiking trails. Camps will be held rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.
