A Manchester man who works as a correctional officer in Anamosa will be running across the state this summer to honor his fallen co-worker.
Ryan Miller says he’s taking on the challenge to raise awareness and money for the family of his fellow officer, Robert McFarland. McFarland lost his life on March 23rd when two inmates trying to escape the Anamosa State Penitentiary attacked him with a hammer.
On June 4th, Miller plans to begin his journey of running across the entire state of Iowa. He’ll start in Sioux City and anticipates that he’ll pass through Manchester on June 10th. His journey will end in Dubuque on June 12th.
You can find more information about Miller’s efforts and how to donate at visionrunner.org. As of Wednesday, he had raised nearly $2,000 of his $20,000 goal.
