Dubuque County residents are being warned of a recent – and dangerous – drug trend affecting the area.
The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says if you or a loved one are addicted to street drugs, they are urging you to use caution and do not purchase pills from street drug dealers.
Authorities say these pills are being sold as illicit substances, such as ecstasy or other prescription drugs being sold outside of their intended use – but instead, these pills contain Fentanyl. A small amount of Fentanyl could cause an overdose – and possibly death.
The Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to only purchase pills from a licensed pharmacist or reputable legal vendor.
