Deutmeyer Auto Advantage in Dyersville Celebrating 40 Years

A Dyersville business is celebrating its 40th anniversary today. Mike Deutmeyer looks back at how Deutmeyer Auto Advantage got its start back in 1981.

Deutmeyer says their original location included a car wash.

After decades of sitting across the street from the Basilica in downtown Dyersville, Deutmeyer Auto Advantage is now entering its fourth year at its new location along Highway 136 on the north end of town.

Of course, the automobile has seen tremendous changes over the years – and Deutmeyer says that has changed what mechanics need to learn about repairing them.

Over his forty years of business, Deutmeyer has been well-known for giving back to the community. When COVID hit last year, he offered free oil changes for all first responders as a way to say thank you to our heroes serving on the frontlines of the pandemic. Deutmeyer says for him, it’s always been about helping people.

Deutmeyer Auto Advantage is celebrating their 40th anniversary tonight. Customers are invited to stop by their shop for a cookout from 4 until 8 pm, with hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs grilled by the Delaware County Cattlemen.
