A second Manchester farmer has been charged with stealing feed.
28-year old Matthew Maurer faces a felony charge of First Degree Theft.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says they conducted an investigation into the theft of grain and protein from a farming operation ran by Maurer, who operates a custom cattle feeding operation at two different sites in the county. The cattle at these sites were owned by Kenneth Moellers of Cresco, who provided protein and corn to Maurer to use in feeding the cattle.
However, the Sheriff’s Office says Maurer used Moellers’ excess feed to feed his own cattle. The amount of feed stolen totaled over $10,000. The theft happened over a year, from October 2019 to December 2020.
59-year old Curtis Maurer of Manchester was also charged with theft in connection to this case in March.
