Bleichner Appointed to Vacancy on Independence School Board

A new director has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Independence School Board.

Matt O’Laughlin recently moved out of the district, leaving his Director District 1 seat vacant. Superintendent Russell Reiter says the district is required to appoint someone to the position within 30 days.

Notifications were sent out to the community, asking for community members to fill the spot. Five people filled out forms to be considered for the position.

The Independence School Board selected Brad Bleichner, a resident of District 1. His term will last five months until the November elections.

Reiter says at that time, Bleichner and anyone else are free to run for the position.
