The armed suspect in Sunday night’s robbery and shooting in Coggon has been arrested.
Our news partners at KCRG-TV9 say 36-year old Stanley Donahue of Chicago was spotted by one of their news crews walking down Highway 13 near Coggon. They called authorities, who made the arrest. The news of the arrest came shortly after 1 pm Monday.
Authorities had been searching for Donahue since a robbery at the Casey’s General Store along Highway 13 in Coggon late Sunday night. Donahue reportedly shot a Linn County deputy who responded to the scene multiple times before fleeing in his vehicle, crashing his vehicle in Coggon while being pursued by another deputy and then fleeing on foot.
The deputy was seriously injured and is in stable condition at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. His name has not been released.
