Donald G. Bennett, 93, of Germantown, WI, formerly Oneida, IA, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021.
He was born on August 23, 1927, in Eau Claire, WI, the son of Raymond “Jack” and Myrna (Fett) Bennett. Donald grew up in Dubuque, IA, and honorably served in the US Army from 1945 to 1948. He later moved to Chicago and Milwaukee doing Steeple Jack and Tuck Pointing work for many years. On December 28, 1963, Donald was united in marriage to Generose Monaghan. They lived in Chicago for three years before moving back to Iowa. They resided in Oneida for 50 years and ran the Oneida Name Plate business and Bennett Wood Stoves. Donald enjoyed going on car rides, telling stories, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his two children Matt (Wendy) Bennett of Germantown, WI; Molly (Ron) Kohlmeyer of Summerset, SD; and his three grandchildren Cory Cruse of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Brooke (Kevin) and Emily Bennett of Germantown, WI.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert (killed in the attack at Pearl Harbor); and his wife, Generose (2014).
Private services will be held at a later date.
