WD BASEBALL/SOFTBALL: Monday Night Coverage Preview

Week number seven of the High School Summer Sports season begins tonight. The Class 4A 11th-ranked West Delaware Hawks Softball team sits with a record of 25-8 after splitting with two Class 5A teams on Saturday in North Liberty. The Hawks beat Davenport Central 11-1 in 5 innings and fell to 11th-rated Iowa City Liberty 3-2. Tonight on Sill Field it will be the final regular season games with a WaMaC Conference cross division doubleheader against 21-16 Benton Community beginning at 5:30. It’s senior night as the program honors their 6 seniors, Eva Winn, Heather Heims, Alissa Holtz, Lexi Hartman, Mia Peyton and Eve Wedewer. The West Delaware Baseball team is 14-16 after a sweep of Benton Community on Saturday at home. Tonight the Hawks will entertain the 16-12 Cardinals of Maquoketa inside the Beckman Sports Complex.
