Students in Independence may be heading back to class this fall a little later than originally planned.
During their meeting on Monday night, the Independence Community School District Board of Education discussed delaying the start of the upcoming school year in order to complete the elementary school buildings’ renovations.
The building project consists of an addition of five classrooms, as well as renovations to six other classrooms at West Elementary and renovations/improvements to East Elementary.
The school board decided to wait until the August 2nd meeting to make a final decision. They hope to have a better idea on the construction progress and possible project completion dates by that time.
