Springville Man Injured; Anamosa Woman Arrested After Linn County Accident

A Springville man was injured after the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a car.

The Linn County Sheriff’s office says 52 year old Jeffrey Vandermillen was driving his motorcycle northbound on Highway 151 near the 40 mile marker at about 3:30 Wednesday afternoon when he was struck from behind by a car.  Vandermillen fell from the motorcycle and slid into the middle of the roadway.  His motorcycle then slid into the north ditch.  The Driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and continued northbound into Jones County.

Vandermillen was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the striking vehicle turned herself in at the Marion Police Department later in the afternoon.  The driver was identified as 19 year old Mattie Arman, of Anamosa.  She was charged with reckless driving, excessive speed, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and no insurance.

Armen was also transported to the Jones County jail for an outstanding arrest warrant.
