Mensen Crowned Delaware County Pork Queen

Delaware County has crowned a new pork queen.

Olivia Mensen won the title at Thursday night’s Delaware County Pork Producers and Porkettes’ 63rd Annual Pork Barbeque.

Olivia, the daughter of Tim Mensen and Carol Oswald, is a junior at Beckman Catholic High School in Dyersville. She’s also a member of the Petersburg Achievers 4-H Club and has been showing pigs at the Delaware County Fair for the past several years. She says her love for the animals started at a young age.

Mensen will spend the next year helping the Delaware County Pork Producers and Porkettes promote pork throughout the county – and she’s looking forward to a couple of events in particular.

The Delaware County Pork Board also crowned two Pork Princesses – Ella Cole of Manchester and Maddy Kann of Ryan. Kann says it’s an honor.

Cole says it feels good to be appreciated and she’s excited to promote an industry that she loves.

The Pork Board also presented the Belle Ringer Award to Mary Clemen of Manchester. The award honors a local woman who has helped promote pork in Delaware County. Mary and her husband, Dick, who passed away earlier this summer, had volunteered with the Delaware County Pork Producers Grill Team since 1986.

The Pork Producers and Porkettes served around 275 people through dine-in, carryout and curbside pickup at Thursday night’s pork barbeque.
