A record number of athletes will be competing in Sunday’s Hero Hustle Triathlon and Duathlon in Manchester.
Committee member Loretta Welcher says they have around one hundred athletes more than last year.
This is the 6th year for the event, which was started to help raise money for local police, fire and EMS departments across Delaware County. Welcher, a retired dispatcher, says it’s so important to keep those small town departments strong.
Fellow committee member Kristy Blake says the support for the Hero Hustle has been awesome, with XL Specialized Trailers stepping up as a major sponsor this year.
Blake says there’s one thing in particular that she loves about the event.
You can donate to the cause at Manchester City Hall or just search for Hero Hustle Triathlon online or on Facebook. The Hero Hustle kicks off at 9 am Sunday at Schram Park in Manchester.
