Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Takes First Trip Since Pandemic

Today, the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is taking its first trip since the pandemic began.

After missing six flights to the COVID-19 virus, Honor Flight 39 took off from the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids early Tuesday morning.

The flight carried 96 veterans on a once in a lifetime trip to Washington DC to visit the memorials built in their honor.

While at the World War Two Memorial on Tuesday morning, the veterans were greeted by U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley and U.S. Representatives Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight will be making its way back home tonight. They’re expected to return to the Eastern Iowa Airport around 8:45 pm. Parking is free for the evening, so everyone is invited to come to the airport and welcome home the veterans.
