Delaware County Celebrating National 4-H Week
It’s National 4-H Week – and Delaware County is celebrating all week long, while also encouraging kids to join.
Kenzie Zumbach serves as the County Youth Coordinator at ISU Extension & Outreach in Delaware County, which is home to one of the largest 4-H programs in Iowa.
Jill Knipper is a Petersburg Achievers 4-H club alum and stays active in 4-H as a volunteer.
Petersburg club member Grace Helle says 4-H has brought her a lot of great experiences so far.
Maddie Hoeger of Manchester is in her final year of 4-H.
Zumbach says any youth in grades 4 through 12 can join 4-H – whether you live on a farm or in town.
There’s also a mini 4-H program for younger kids called Clover Kids – that’s open to kids in kindergarten through 3rd grade.
National 4-H Week would be a great week to join! Delaware County 4-Hers and volunteers are celebrating all week long. The Hoptown Hurricanes 4-H Club hosted breakfast at the Hopkinton Community Center on Sunday morning – and there will be 4th grade classroom visits, a hay bale decorating contest among the clubs and a chance to proudly wear green in support of 4-H on Wednesday.
For more information about joining 4-H, reach out to Kenzie at Delaware County Extension at 927-4201.
