Delaware County has begun discussions with the Sheriff’s Department on collective bargaining agreements. Initial proposals for the next fiscal year were exchanged at the County Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday. The County says they should have a final agreement in place in about a month.
Also at Monday’s Supervisors meeting, the Board appointed Ann Domeyer of rural Earlville to the vacant Bremen Township Trustee position.
And the Supervisors retroactively proclaimed November 13th through the 19th as National Apprenticeship Week by the request of Katie Bahl from IowaWORKS. Bahl says Registered Apprenticeship Programs have proven successful in recruiting, training and retaining talent, with Wulfekuhle Electric one example of a local business who participates in the program (see photo). Delaware County’s unemployment rate currently sits at one-point-eight percent – its lowest ever.
