Frank Talmadge,74, of Ryan, Iowa, died at his home on Monday, December 22, 2014.
He was born on December 20, 1940, in Middletown, New York, the son of George and Ruth (Elliot) Talmadge. Frank graduated from Walkhill High School in 1957. He served honorably in the United States Marines from February 6, 1959 until September 13, 1960, and then in the Reserves until February 5, 1965.
On October 13, 1963, Frank was united in marriage to Shirley Canfield in New York. Three children were blessed to this union. Frank was a truck driver and over the years they lived in New Paltz, New York, West Palm Beach, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee, and in 2011 moved to Ryan.
Frank loved his family, and enjoyed NASCAR, doing yardwork, and hauling grain for his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Shirley; three children, Shirley Such of Waverly, Pam Wenger of Ryan, and Frank (LaShay) Talmadge of Aylett, Virginia; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Sandra Grady of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Shirley Dixon of Huntsville, Alabama.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nancy Sutton and Rosie Hayden; and a son-in-law, Michael “Spanky” Wenger.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Golden Congregational Church in rural Ryan, Iowa. Officiating: Rev. Mary Taylor
Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester. Also one hour before service at the church on Monday.
Interment with Military Rites: Golden Congregational Cemetery – Rural Ryan.
