By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:
The High School Girls basketball season began with practices last Monday around the state. This week jamborees and Hall of Pride scrimmages will take place before game play officially begins next Monday night.
The West Delaware girls hope to improve on a varsity 8-14 overall record and a 5-9 WaMaC East division mark, tied for 6th place. The Hawks will look to fill the void of losing four players to graduation who were 4 of their top 7 leading scorers a year ago. Two senior starters return to help lead the way in Lauren Collier and Brooke O’Connell with help from returning letter winners Kendra Offerman and Abby McGrane. Third-year head coach Rod Conrad shares thoughts on his team so far:
Competition continues in practice to sort out the playing time and it will be a busy stretch before Thanksgiving break with the Hall of Pride scrimmage Saturday evening at Waterloo West:
The Hawks begin their season at home Monday night hosting Waverly-Shell Rock which will start our winter sports broadcast season with live coverage on KMCH and KMCH.com. They will stay at Seedorff for another non-conference contest Tuesday night.
