HS Softball/Baseball: Results From Wednesday 6-14

The top ten ranked Class 3A softball match-up of West Delaware and CP-U in Center Point last night went to the home team by the scores of 3-1 and 5-4. The Hawks jumped out in front in game 1 scoring one run in the 3rd inning until CP-U scored 1 in the next three innings to win by 2. CP-U took the lead first in the second game 1-0 in the 2nd before the Hawks answered with 3 in the 3rd. CP-U tallied 2 in the 3rd to tie it up and WD added 1 in the 4th to hold a 4-3 advantage heading into the 7th. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, Stormin’ Pointer junior Maddie Karr drove the ball over the left field fence for the game winning walk-off  2-run home run. Tenth-ranked CP-U improved to 12-4 overall while the 6th-rated Hawks fell to 17-7. WD will be off until Friday morning when they open up the annual WD Softball Invitational with a 9am game against Dubuque Wahlert.

Tonight, West Delaware will host CP-U with a WaMaC conference cross division varsity doubleheader starting at 5pm at Exide Field inside the Beckman Sports Complex.
